Where Do You Buy Your Craft Beer?

1 Feb

Living in Union County limits the options available when trying to buy craft beer. We’re pretty much held hostage to the grocery stores and whatever selections they offer. While we think Harris Teeter does a decent job of providing some good beer, we do wish we had more selection available to us.

Total Wine is a nice option just up the road in Matthews, but where is everyone in Charlotte getting their beer? We’re excited to check out Salud Beer Shop in NoDa when it opens shortly. Any other suggestions for us? Please take part in our poll and leave a comment for us or add your favorite in the “Other” category.

As a fellow Union County resident and huge beer geek, I feel your pain. The grocery stores are getting better about stocking craft beer, but if you really want a good selection head up Providence to the Arboretum shopping center where you’ll find Vintner Wine Market, which stocks hundreds of bottles and boasts 16 taps of great craft beers. The staff is incredibly friendly, as are the many regulars that you can find on any given night. And, thanks to Chef Grant, the food is delicious as well.

I would visit Vintner no matter where they are, but it is nice that this is about as close to craft as Union County gets. Seriously, if you haven’t been, you have to check it out.

    Cheers guys!

Is that just down from Cajun Yard Dog? I think we went there a long time ago when we used to live near the Arboretum. Seems like a good place to hit up on a Friday night for unwinding – Thanks of the tip!

Yes, that’s the place! It’s a great spot to have a beer and/or grab some beers to take home. They have a great selection.

One more comment: I see from another post you guys are in Indian Trail. Have you checked out Custom Home Pubs in Matthews (just over 485 in the same shopping center as the Elevation Church)? Their selection is small, but nice. They also carry homebrew supplies and home kegerator setups — and they have a few nice taps on as well!

We went there for the first time ever when they did the NoDa Brewery tasting. Seemed like a really good deal. We’re not homebrewers….yet, but I could see that changing soon!

Have you been to the Grapevine in Fort Mill? They have an awesome beer festival coming up in March.

Haven’t been there Christin. Seems like whenever we make the effort to drive somewhere, it isn’t typically to South Carolina (unless we’re going to a Knights game). I’ve heard good things about Grapevine. With Skull Coast opening their tasting room this year, I have a feeling we’ll be getting familiar with the area much sooner than later.

Christin, where do you go when you make the short drive into Charlotte?

We just went to Olde Mecklenburg Brewery last week. Love their beer and they do a really nice tour. Been wanting to go to NoDa Brewery. Just can’t seem to find the time!
