Brews + Bards: Bringing Craft Beer & Local Theatre Together

12 Oct

Christy and I are excited to announce a new group that we’ve developed with our friends, Josh & Adara, that centers around two things we love here in Charlotte – craft beer and local theatre. The group, entitled “Brews + Bards”, arranges casual meetups with a goal of introducing theatre aficionados to local craft beer options, and encourage beers fans to experience local theatre.

The concept isn’t something new to us as friends. For the last year, we have regularly visited breweries and bottle shops prior to enjoying a night at the theatre. A late night brainstorming session made us realize there are probably many out there just like us. And we’d like to believe the group might urge folks to come out and experience something new that they’re just not familiar with (i.e. craft beer or going to the theatre).

Christy and I are prime examples of who the group serves. While we’ve had a great affinity for local beer and food, theatre wasn’t ever on our radar as a social outlet. Once Josh & Adara exposed us to the theatre, we found ourselves seeking it out more and more. Now we want to introduce others to the same experiences we’ve had, while making some new friends along the way.

Our first event will be November 9th, and pairs NoDa Brewing Company with a performance of “Good People” at CAST (Carolina Actors Studio Theatre). We will meet at the brewery, socialize with the group and meet representatives of NoDa, while enjoying the great beer that’s made onsite. Food will be available for purchase from the Hot Box food truck. The event moves to CAST at 7:30pm and will include post-show interaction with members of the cast and crew. Full details of the event can be found at the Brews + Bards website.

A small block of discounted adult tickets are being made available by CAST, and can be purchased at their website, using the “brewsbards” promo code. Please be aware that this is the final performance of “Good People” so tickets will go fast.

If you are planning to attend, we’d ask you to purchase your tickets and then fill out the RSVP form at the bottom of the Featured Event page of our site – just so we can have an idea of how many might be planning to attend.

Hope to see you there!
